A strange thing happened recently...

At the end of summer 2009, I signed up for a Monster in the Closet swap. The idea was to make a monster doll inspired by a childhood fear. I'd never made a doll before. I managed to make mine with semi-posable arms and legs, and real hair (collected after my mom's haircut), and when I was done, I could not believe how much I loved her; how much I loved making her. Unlike my mixed media art, this was a tangible feeling- I could hold her, move her, feel her little body and oversized head. Sending her away brought me a little sadness, but I was also filled with new inspiration to create more dolls in the style of my own artwork.

I sell these art dolls and ornaments through Etsy, at Miss Millificent's Mesdamoiselles. Click the link after the picture to be taken to the shop. The picture will take you to the slideshow.
